Fitzgerald. Rev. Banks along with his wife Sis. Olievie Banks would drive to Kendleton \nfaithfully under the leadership of Dr. Fitzgerald. Dr. Fitzgerald recognized the faithfulness \nof Reverend Jackson Banks, Sr. and allowed him to pastor the Old Tabernacle Church in \nKendleton while he presided over his second church located in Acres Homes, Houston, \nTexas.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a58f2c6 elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"a58f2c6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-a58f2c6\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">After the death of Dr. Fitzgerald, his children decided to expel all the members out of the \nchurch. This decision caused a large rift within the congregation and church. On  that \nSunday in January of 1968, half of the congregation decided to gather at one of the \nmembers home, Sis. Lillian Taylor, to continue having church underneath her peach tree. \nWhen weather did not permit, they gathered inside of her home. That exact same Sunday in \n1968, Kendleton Missionary Baptist Church was established underneath that peach tree \nunder the leadership of Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr. <\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d548a35 elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"d548a35\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-d548a35\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">On July 18, 1968, Mr. Rudolph Braxton sold the property located on 100 Guess Street in \nKendleton, Texas at four-thirty in the afternoon for ten dollars to the congregation and \nPastor Jackson Banks, Sr. After the property was purchased, the members led by First Lady \nOleivie Banks began to organize fundraisers to build a church on the property. Members \nincluded Sis. Lillian Taylor, Sis. Foster, Deacon and Sis Hern, Sis. Texana Morgan, Bro. \nJohnnie Johnson, Bro. And Sis. Clayton, Deacon and wife Willie Moore, Rev. And Sis. \nSanders, Bro. And Sis Malone, Sis. Beulah Johnson and Sis. Spears. These members were \ninstrumental in the foundation of the building of the actual church building. <\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-052cc21 elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"052cc21\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-052cc21\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">People came from far and near to experience the teachings, preachings, and healing \nanointing under Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr.  The church thrived underneath his leadership \nand he served the Lord faithfully alongside with his wife First Lady Oleivie Banks. The \nchurch building was established and the congregation began to increase. On August 12, \n1984, Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr. Became ill after preaching a sermon, and was rushed to \nthe Polly Ryan Hospital in Richmond, Texas. Five days later, on August 17, 1984, he \ntransitioned into his heavenly home. <\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00731ba elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"00731ba\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-00731ba\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">Soon after the death of Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr, his son, Reverend Jackson Banks, Jr. \nPresided over Kendleton Missionary Baptist Church alongside his wife, First Lady Donna \nBanks. The torch was handed from father to son, and Pastor Jackson Banks, Jr. served the \nLord faithfully and was devoted to the church and the Word of God. Although his tenure as \npastor lasted a brief four years, many lives were changed, and the church continued to \ngrow.   <\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c278d78 elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"c278d78\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-c278d78\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">On November 11, 1988, leadership of Kendleton Missionary Baptist Church was given to \nReverend Jackson Banks, Jr younger brother, Rev. Alfred Earl Banks and his wife First Lady \nMinister Audrey.  Pastor Alfred Banks was devoted to his congregation and the Word of \nGod. His preachings were sought after, many coming from different cities to hear the \nhumble man preach the anointed word. Many lives were changed, and the church \nprospered tremendously under his leadership. Under the leadership of Dr. Alfred Banks \nand his wife First Lady Ministry Audrey, the church gained momentum and soon after a \nvision from the Lord, the church was re-named the Temple of Glory, and a motto gained, \n\u201cThe place where God never gets tired of being God. \u201c<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-82e6bef elementor-widget__width-initial animated-fast center elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-wdt-heading\" data-id=\"82e6bef\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInRight&quot;,&quot;_animation_delay&quot;:400,&quot;wdt_animation_effect&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"wdt-heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wdt-heading-holder \" id=\"wdt-heading-82e6bef\"><div class=\"wdt-heading-content-wrapper\">On March 11, 1992, Dr. Alfred E. Banks went to the Secretary of State to have the \nchurch formally recognized as a corporate non-profit organization. Under his leadership, \nhe founded a theology school for the church ministers to be able to obtain their ordination \nlicenses. Leaders ordained under the Temple of Glory include, the Late Minister Alfredia \nBanks, Rev. Desmond Gordon, Rev. Leon Bridges, Min. Darryl Provo and wife Audrey Provo \njust to name a few. He welcomed and did fellowship with neighboring churches from \nHouston, Louisiana, Fort Bend County, and Wharton. He continued his father\u2019s vision, the \nlate Pastor Jackson Banks Sr of serving the people selflessly and began a ministry outreach \nfor the drug and alcohol addicted, and also for young men who were struggling. Under \nPastor Alfred Banks, the church was remodeled and many organizations arose such as The \nRoyal Woman of Agape Love, The Youth fellowship, and The Brotherhood Ministry just to \nname a few. Dr. Banks served as Pastor of the Temple of Glory for thirty-six \nyears and he never wavered in his faith and always spoke boldly for God. This is due to being \nrooted in God\u2019s word. Together as a church, we have prayed together in times of hardship, \nand rejoiced together in times of triumph. Just as we have persevered in the last fifty-six \nyears, with God as our strength we will continue to grow stronger in our faith and unity. We \nare here to celebrate the longevity of our church, and also the spirit of resilience within.
